Biography »

Ruth Frank married a captain in the United States Army in February 2009 and was whisked off to a little German town outside an army base in northern Bavaria. There she shares a life of leisure with a collection of African masks. Previously, she survived Bishop Dunne High School, acted on and off stage at the University of Dallas, and lived in Oak Cliff, where she wrote for People Newspapers and THE Magazine.

A man and a policeman whistled and shouted at us. We did not understand, and the man began to usher us away and lead us up a hill. He led us to a view of the sphinx and then asked if we wanted our picture taken. We thanked him and said no, but he refused to leave. “I take you all this way in the heat,” he said in broken English. “What will you give me?”

Letter From Schweinfurt
The Bavarian curtains are wretched, nasty little lace things that are hung on the lower half of the windows and are often embroidered with even more hobbit-like scenes. People in Bavaria compete with their curtains like Highland Park residents compete with their Christmas lights.
