IDPH suggests that anyone who has pre-cut melon from Walmart should throw it out, and if they have eaten it and experience diarrhea, fever and cramps, they should contact a health care provider.

Iran's Supreme Leader has ordered the increase of his uranium enrichment capacity to improve the country's nuclear capability "in case it's needed".

Health officials say only pre-cut melons have been linked at this time and recommend consumers buy whole melons. An investigation is still ongoing to determine if other states or stores are affected by the outbreak. Several of those people have been hospitalized as a result.

Health authorities have narrowed the source of a salmonella outbreak to a melon facility in Indianapolis. The illness often lasts 4 to 7 days.

Salmonellosis or salmonella is a bacterial infection that can be contracted through exposure to undercooked animal-based foods, such as poultry and eggs, and contact with feces from an infected animal or person, according to the CDC. Young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are more vulnerable to severe illness.

The people who became sick reported eating pre-cut cantaloupe, watermelon or mixed fruit salad that had melon in it.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say there's no need to avoid whole melon at this point.
