Arab League fails to agree on US envoy recalls

Palestinians were protesting against the tyranny of Israel and this action.

Hamas is encouraging Gaza residents to protest along the border with Israel and clash with IDF forces today, the first Friday of Ramadan.

The decision was taken during an emergency Arab League meeting held in Cairo in wake of Washington's relocation on Monday of its embassy to Jerusalem and the ensuing Gaza border protests that saw some 60 Palestinians killed by Israeli troops. "Israel will continue to defend its sovereignty and the security of its citizens against the terror and murderous violence of Hamas".

Kuwait tried Monday to get the council to issue a statement expressing outrage at the killings and seeking an independent investigation, among other things.

The Israeli ambassador was recalled over the resolution for about six months.

He also took aim at the USA for shifting its embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv, terming it violation of worldwide law contravention of the UN Charter's prohibition of the forcible acquisition of territory.

The draft calls for intensified efforts by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the U.N. Mideast envoy Nikolay Mladenov to help deter violence, protect civilians, and create "an environment conducive to dialogue".

The two-day Forum marks the anniversary of the 1948 War and mass displacement of Palestinians, convened by the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.

"The cycle of violence in Gaza must end, it serves no one", she said "I repeat my call for such killings to be investigated thoroughly".

The embassy said that Israel was being unjustly accused of using disproportionate force against Hamas.

US Ambassador Nikki Haley on Tuesday condemned Hamas provocation and said ally Israel had acted with restraint.

"The Egyptians reportedly showed Hamas leaders a video that revealed Hamas members paying off civilians if they agreed to approach the border fence despite Israeli warnings that there would be deadly consequences". In addition, a senior member of the terrorist group, Salah al-Bardawil, confirmed in an interview on Wednesday that at least 50 of them were Hamas members.

"The United States deplores the loss of human life", she said.
