Cavs star James goes to locker room after shot to jaw

Celtics withstand James' huge night

The Celtics hung around long enough in game 2 to capture a 2-0 series lead, while gaining their first lead of the game in the third quarter and never looking back.

LeBron James finished with 42 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds in defeat. The King in this scenario is King James, first name LeBron, and he's the best basketball player on earth, evidenced by the first two rounds of the NBA playoffs in which he's repeatedly and nearly single-handedly led his Cleveland Cavaliers into the NBA's eastern conference finals.

Marcus Smart came off the bench for 31 minutes in Tuesday's Game 2 win and had 11 points, five rebounds, nine assists, four steals and a 3-pointer on 3-of-9 shooting.

He returned a few minutes later and finished out the half with what the Cavaliers said was a strained neck.

Afterward, when asked if he was examined for a concussion after leaving the court, James said he was checked for a variety of things and cleared all the tests, allowing for his return.

"Any time you have a situation where someone's going through something that's life-threatening as that is and for him to be able to come to some of the home games and be at the lottery tonight representing our franchise, it's a blessing", LeBron James said of Nick.

Israel, Turkey humiliate each others' envoys in escalating diplomatic spat
The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry said 60 Palestinians were killed and more than 2,700 more injured in Monday's clashes. Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek and Finance Minister Naci Ağbal are also taking part in the meeting.

We've seen this from LeBron James before: When the odds are against him, he plays it cool. James was shown rubbing his chin, and then he went to the locker room.

"I think I'll be fine", he said. "I understand what Brad is saying and I agree with him in that sense, but I don't think naive is the right word. We moved on to the next play, and we just locked in even more after that".

Before checking out, James made one of two free throws, giving Cleveland its largest lead of the game at 11 points. According to ESPN, outside of LeBron (who shot 16-29 from the field), the Cavs as a team shot 21-51, or 40 percent. It was a night to forget for the sharpshooter and he will need to play much better moving forward. James was back in with 10:41 remaining and Love followed quickly, but they could not save the day. Too late. The Cavs were outscored 36-22 in the third, turning their eight-point halftime lead into a seven-point deficit entering the fourth.

Then again, the man posted his 24th playoff game of his career with at least 40 points (and fifth this postseason), and extended his National Basketball Association record of playoff games with at least 40 points and 10 assists to five. James left for Miami that summer.

In the Stanley Cup playoffs the Tampa Bay Lightning find themselves in an 0-2 hole, losing both games to start the eastern conference finals against the Washington Capitals at home, including yesterday's 6-2 rout.
