Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress to give prayer at US Embassy opening in Jerusalem

EXCLUSIVE: American Christians Celebrate Historic Opening of US Embassy in Jerusalem

Robert Jeffress is the pastor of a Southern Baptist megachurch in Dallas and offered a prayer at the event in Israel Monday.

"There's going to be for those that are kind of more aligned with President Trump and his way of thinking is that we're going to continue to stand along and be strong allies with Israel", said Dr. Nick Pitts, head of the Institute for Global Studies at Dallas Baptist University. "This is another example of promise made, promise kept". "Today, I am delivering".

For many evangelical Christians, the issues of recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital and relocating the US embassy to that city have been top priority for years.

The embassy move was "the right thing to do", StandWithUs executive director Michael Dickson said, and Trump's decision "says no to those who would distort history, no to appeasing terror and violence and yes to a peaceful future based on what is true and what is right".

GJELTEN: Jeffress is a fervent political supporter of Israel, though from a narrow Christian perspective. A hunter is someone who comes with a gun and he forces you. "The spokesman [Raj Shah] said the pastor has a longstanding relationship with people on both sides of the aisle on Capitol Hill and his remarks are one with which the president does not disagree".

But on Monday Israel seemingly overlooked Mr Jeffress' anti-Semitism and belief that "you can't be saved by being a Jew", in return for America's full-fledged support.

The other evangelical minister who gave the benediction at Monday's ceremony was John Hagee, also a Texas pastor and founder of Christians United for Israel.

Mike Pence Wants Mueller to 'Wrap It Up'
Vice President Mike Pence said it was time for Special Counsel Robert Mueller to "wrap it up" regarding his Russian Federation investigation during an interview airing Friday.

"Christians believe that Jerusalem will be the capital city in the Eternal Kingdom, ruled by Jesus Christ", he said.

"I want to be clear". Jerusalem is where Jeremiah and Isaiah penned the principles of righteousness that became the moral foundations of our civilization. "This is not going to be one of those feel-good Last Week Tonight stories, like 'Slippers!' or 'Everything Looks Okay at the Pudding Factory, '" he warned.

"Not Washington; not Rome; not Paris, France; not Berlin - Jerusalem", Hagee said.

Jeffress spoke with Fox News Radio about his participation in the embassy opening.

"This move clearly communicates to the people of Israel that we stand in their defense".

In the past few years he implied that secular women behave like animals due to their immodest dress and claimed 2016 that according to Jewish law, non-Jews were forbidden from living in Israel.
