PHOTOS: Young fan's cheeky sign earns lovely gift at Arsene Wenger's farewell
The Frenchman bids farewell to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, with Burnley the visitors in his final home game as Gunners boss.
Arsene Wenger watched Arsenal beat Burnley 5-0 in his final home match in charge on Sunday before telling fans: "I will miss you".
Arsenal players and fans sported red t-shirts emblazoned with "Merci Arsene" (Thank you Arsene), whilst both teams formed a guard of honour for Wenger before kick-off.
"I'd like to finish with one simple word - I will miss you".
"If you can offer me a ticket for the North Bank - you know what the positive of that is: I can shout at the next manager!", Wenger said joking. Some proud fans3. A parting gift4.
It marked Arsenal's last chance of making it into the Champions League next season and all that remains now is for them to try to cement their sixth-place position in the Premier League to secure them another crack at the Europa League next season. Thank you all for being such an important part of my life and I hope to see you soon.
Chants of "there is only one Arsene Wenger" rang around the 60,000 capacity stadium, which was far fuller than home league games in recent months as fans stayed away in protest at a poor season on the field.
Wenger and Arsenal have been coy about what directly prompted his departure with a season remaining on his contract.
"On the other hand, I have to think, I will cherish every minute I had here, but as well it is a new start for me".
"I would like as well to thank everyone at the club who makes it so special, I would invite you, really push, support these players and the staff who remains behind me, these group of players has a special quality".
"Personally, I expect today will be dominated by sadness", Wenger said.
However, there was plenty for the supporters to shout about in a fitting finale for Wenger as Arsenal displayed the attractive brand of attacking football that characterised his most successful sides over the past two decades.
