PM Modi at the town hall organised at Central Hall Westminster in London
The Indian National Congress on Friday lashed out at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his "cavalier" attitude towards foreign policy at the Commonwealth Summit in the United Kingdom, DNA India reported. India's Ministry of External Affairs said that it had taken up the matter with the British Foreign Office.
Responding to yet another question about the USA decision to restrict movements of Pakistani diplomats, he said both the sides were engaged on it and hoped the matter would be resolved.
When asked about recent incident of cross border firing on Pak-Afghan border, Dr Muhammad Faisal said both the sides were continuing negotiations to address their misunderstandings.
"Police are investigating after an Indian flag in Parliament Square was pulled down at 1500 [UK time] on Wednesday, 18 April. We expect action, including legal, against the persons involved in the incident and their instigators", said a MEA spokesperson.
Pakistan on Thursday rejected as "false" and "baseless" Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's claims of having launched a surgical strike on terrorist camps in Pakistani territory. Hundreds of supporters and protestors had awaited Modi's arrival in London, holding placards and shouting slogans at Downing Street and the British Parliament.
In what seems to be a veiled message to Pakistan, Modi said during his speech in London that "antics of those exporting terror and trying to backstab us will not be tolerated" and "they will be answered in a language they understand". According to reports, an Indian journalist was also reportedly attacked during demonstrations organised by pro-Khalistan elements in London.
The foreign office also mentioned that Prime Minister Modi's visit "has strengthened our relationship with India and we look forward to working even more closely together on a number of important areas".
