Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani speaks to mourners ahead of a funeral service at the Billy Graham Library for the Rev. Billy Graham who died last week at age 99 Friday

Mayor Giuliani once served as US Attorney for the Southern District of NY, the office that is now overseeing an investigation into President Trump's personal attorney, Michael Cohen.

"I'm going to join the legal team to try to bring this to a resolution", Giuliani told the New York Post Friday.

The team believes Giuliani's role will be limited and brief if things go the way they plan for them to go.

He was among several US attorneys left from President Barack Obama's administration who were asked to resign. The legal team has often been beset by infighting. "Will he be combative Rudy, or will he play well with Mueller's team?" A witness himself in the Mueller probe, McGahn has met with Mueller's team on at least three occasions to answer questions, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Mueller was at a loss to explain why he had failed to investigate Giuliani earlier. Just weeks before Trump's inauguration, Michael Flynn, then the incoming national security adviser, reportedly included Zarrab in talks with Turkish officials and was seeking her release as part of a larger diplomatic exchange that later came under Mueller's scrutiny. Trump reacted angrily, calling it "disgraceful".

"I have had the privilege of working with Mayor Giuliani for many years, and we welcome his expertise", he said.

Giuliani dismissed claims the president was planning on firing Mueller.

What Sean Hannity has said about Michael Cohen
Hannity was trying to host one of those segments on Monday night when guest Alan Dershowitz brought up the Cohen predicament. He never once mentioned that he even knew Cohen, much less that Cohen would describe him as a client in a legal proceeding.

"I'm not involved in anything about those issues. He's entitled to do his job".

"This is a hoax", Mr. Trump said.

He also said he and the president spoke Thursday to discuss legal strategy going forward.

In a statement announcing Giuliani's hire, Trump expressed his wish that the investigation wraps up soon and praised Giuliani, a fellow New Yorker, confidant and Mar-a-Lago regular.

Giuliani has known Trump for decades and has staunchly defended him on the campaign trail and after the inauguration. During that time, he brought many high-profile cases targeting insider trading on Wall Street.

As he has closely monitored cable-news programs chronicling his presidency and the Mueller probe, Trump has swatted away suggestions that he can not attract high-profile attorneys. "Mayor Giuliani voiced his profound admiration to the President for allowing him to aid within this crucial matter".
