Barbara Bush in failing health

After a recent series of hospitalizations and consulting with her family doctors, the 92-year-old Bush family matriarch will no longer seek medical treatment, a family spokesman says.

McGrath said Mrs. Bush spent two days at Methodist Hospital earlier this month but decided not to return there when her health began to deteriorate.

Bush would travel the world representing the USA before turning their sights to The White House, first as the Vice President and Second Lady during the Ronald Reagan administration, then the 1988 Presidential election.

Barbara Bush, the wife of one USA president and the mother of a second, is in failing health and has chose to seek "comfort care" rather than further medical treatment.

US House Speaker Steve Scalise? Here's what others are saying
Ryan announced on Wednesday that he would not be seeking reelection come November, but maintained that he would stay in the House through the midterm elections.

Chelsea Clinton, whose father Bill Clinton defeated George H.W. Bush in the 1992 presidential election, tweeted that she was "k$3 eeping Barbara Bush and her family in my heart and prayers". She is the mother of former President George W. Bush and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. She was being treated by bronchitis and the nation's 41st president was being treated for pneumonia.

Eight years after she and her husband left the White House, Mrs Bush stood with her husband as their son George W was sworn in as president. The Bushes, who have been married for 73 years, also have 4 other children. She is 92 years old. The other was Abigail Adams, wife of John Adams and mother of John Quincy Adams. After World War II, the Bushes moved to Texas where he went into the oil business.

ET obtained a statement from the Bush family on Sunday, which was later also posted on Twitter, after she had been hospitalized several times in recent months.
