Queensland Commonwealth Games Minister Kate Jones said the Australian Federal Police was "keeping a watching brief on these athletes".

Last night, a further three athletes left their rooms, the statement said.

Games officials say the athletes have not yet officially breached their visas, which do not expire until May 15.

This breakfast will give me the opportunity to congratulate numerous New Zealand athletes participating in the Games.

"Australia must also be congratulated for their hugely successful event and they can be proud of the organisation and facilities they have delivered".

Six had finished competing, while the two boxers left the village without taking part in their events.

"No, no, no. They are here", he said.

Cameroon officials on Wednesday made a decision to fly 14 athletes, including the entire 12-man basketball team, home immediately after they had completed their competitions.

Former First Lady Barbara Bush 'in failing health'
Bush spent two days at Methodist Hospital earlier this month but decided not to return there when her health began to deteriorate. Bush in the 1992 presidential election, tweeted that she was "k$3 eeping Barbara Bush and her family in my heart and prayers".

The Cameroon team's press attaché Simon Molombe told news.com.au: "They just left in the night".

Word of the missing African athletes first spread online around 6pm on Tuesday after three of them - a weightlifter and two boxers - failed to show up to their scheduled events.

The safety and welfare of those athletes from the Team Cameroon perspective is being taken very, very seriously, but we are obviously monitoring that situation with Team Cameroon.

"But these athletes are guests here in Australia, they are still within their visas and they have the right to travel freely", Mr Grevemberg said.

In 2012, seven Cameroonian athletes disappeared while in London for the Olympics.

"If they are thinking of doing anything other, I would encourage them not to do it". "We have a service to people who have legitimate visas to be in this country", Commonwealth Games Federation chief executive David Grevemberg told reporters.

Two Ugandans and potentially one Ghanaian are also missing in action. They aren't going to game the system, and aren't going to stay here.

They were reportedly seen working at a auto wash in Cumbernauld, a town 14 miles to the north-east of Glasgow, but were later found living at a hostel for asylum seekers in Cardiff.
