James Comey Is Going on a Media Blitz. RNC Has a Plan

James Comey says President Donald Trump 'untethered to truth' in new book

Trump calls Comey an 'untruthful slime ball'

Kelly added that he "intended to quit", Comey writes, and "said he didn't want to work for dishonorable people". But I think, ultimately, he's going to help Trump.

In recent weeks, Trump has continued to attack Comey on Twitter, and Comey has suggested he will have his say through his book.

Trump has called Comey a "leaker", accused him of running "the phony and dishonest Clinton investigation" and used him as a means to challenge the FBI and the Justice Department.

Comey says he warned Trump an investigation might "create a narrative that we were investigating him personally", the former top G-man writes.

At the bottom of the homepage, the RNC trumpets "Obstruction?" noting that Comey "may" use his book tour to "push the phony narrative" that Trump obstructed the Russian Federation investigation.

Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and prominent Trump ally, told Fox News that Comey is "hawking a book" to make money, not to get "to the heart of the truth".

One of Pruitt's "dumbest" costs to taxpayers, Oliver joked, was a$2,460 fix at his apartment when Pruitt was found unresponsive. The agency's ethics officials searched for rates on Airbnb and Zillow and found that the rate of $50 a night was market value.

Andrew Harrer/Pool, Getty Images Ronna McDaniel, the RNC's chairwoman, told CNN that Comey's "misconduct" warranted condemnations from both Republicans and Democrats, and that the public should be reminded of them before his book launches.

Heye said the biggest challenge for Republicans could be combatting claims from Comey that have not previously made headlines. "One chair for George, one for me". The talking points call Comey's credibility into question by focusing on what the RNC calls his "long history of misstatements and misconduct". It's a sign of the intense anxiety administration officials feel about Comey's press tour, and about President Donald Trump's possible reaction to it. He was appointed USA attorney for the Southern District of NY and deputy attorney general by President George W. Bush; he was appointed Federal Bureau of Investigation director by President Barack Obama.

A large reception is also planned on Tuesday, the day of the book release, at the Newseum in Washington.

An old quotation from Clinton is prominently displayed on the "Lyin'Comey" website, with Trump's former Democratic rival saying that Comey "badly overstepped his bounds".

"I do not have confidence in [Comey] any longer", the site quotes Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., as saying in November 2016.
