David Apol, acting director of the OGE, wrote that Pruitt's actions "raise concerns and may constitute a violation of the States of Ethical Conduct for Employees of the Executive Branch" as well as President Trump's ethics pledge (via The Hill).
Lankford, who authors an annual report on wasteful government spending, called Pruitt a "dedicated public servant" during his introduction, saying Pruitt "respects the importance of our federalist foundation and the pocketbooks of hardworking families".
The internal review said an earlier threat assessment by Pruitt's security team "does not employ sound analysis or articulate relevant "threat specific" information appropriate to draw any resource or level of threat conclusions regarding the protection posture for the administrator". That's on top of previously ongoing investigations into the administrator's outsized travel spending and purchase of a $43,000 soundproof privacy booth purchased for the administrator to make private phone calls.
"This is kind of an unprecedented situation as far as I know", Jennifer Kaplan, a spokeswoman for the EPA Office of Inspector General, toldBuzzFeed News, referring to the unusual way the request landed on the IG's desk after originating with the Office of Government Ethics and then getting bounced off EPA's ethics office.
Officials speaking on behalf of Pruitt have frequently cited to alleged death threats against him when pressed to account for the unprecedentedly expensive-and oftentimes lavish-spending requests issued by Pruitt and his inner circle.
"Pruitt.has fought against federal overreach", Inhofe wrote.
China is running out of American goods to slap tariffs on
From there, Trump would have to use executive authority to direct the implementation of the tariffs, which takes about six weeks. The President added that he instructed to the USTR also to "identify the products upon which to impose" the additional tariffs.
