Snapchat finally releases iPhone X exclusive AR lenses

Those same lenses are now finally being made available to the users. In those 3 lenses, there can be seen a Mardi Gras-esque Mask, a Day of the Dead skull and a pretty gold-plated eye cover which looks really funky. It's not clear how long these iPhone X masks will stay in the rotation ... or if Snapchat plans to develop any more in future.

SNAPCHAT users can now get hyper-realistic face filters - but only if they have an iPhone X.

The lenses available now makes use of the data from the phone's 2D camera to guess facial features, like eyebrows and mouth. Each of the three filters take advantage of the X's TrueDepth camera.

If we go deeper, the front facing TrueDepth Camera on the iPhone X projects 30,000 infrared dots onto the face of the user.

Snap says that TrueDepth allows even the smallest details and 3D objects in the Lenses to follow your face's movements, making masks look more realistic than ever. These lenses will be more tightly sticking to your face around jawline. The self-destructing messaging app has even tried to monetize its lenses to boost revenue from the advertisers.

Fortnite Vending Machine Locations - Map To Find Them All
Thank goodness Battle Royale's latest update welcomes vending machines. "There is no purchase limit to the items available". Today's patch is all about content, and it adds an interesting new feature to Battle Royale: vending machines.

According to developer's agreement, third-party app makers can only access to visual facial mapping data, not the mathematical representation of it that is used to unlock the iPhone X through Face ID.

With the iPhone X still fresh in everybody's collective consciousness, it seems very unlikely for Apple to come forward with another tech marvel.

The app is available now as a free download in the App Store. The first three lenses are the new Truedepth ones. Previous year, an Apple employee not permitted to speak publicly about the matter told AppleInsider that developer access to TrueDepth data is "profoundly, seriously limited".

However Apple also ensured that this data can never be used for advertising or marketing, and that it cannot be bundled and sold to analytics companies or data brokers. You can make use of different masks which you can use within the lenses.

However, as the adoption of TrueDepth and Face ID grows, it would become hard for the iPhone maker to keep a check on the unfair use of data.
