US plans to sanction Russian oligarchs this week

US Imposes Sanctions on 38 Russian Businessmen, 17 Officials and Companies

Exclusive: Mueller's team questioning Russian oligarchs

This week's actions will include sanctions against Russian oligarchs, including some with ties to Putin as well as to the Russian government, according to two USA officials briefed on the deliberations. He's particularly interested in Russian investments in think tanks and political-action committees that donated to Trump's campaign, and in "straw donors", or American citizens who fielded Russian money to skirt campaign finance laws. The targets for the sanctions will be taken from a classified annex to the report, the official said.

President Donald Trump has been criticized for failing to punish Russian Federation for the interference of the president elections against the ongoing investigation by Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller about whether the head of state's election campaign has had unlawful relations with power in Moscow.

The Mueller investigation in February indicted 13 Russian nationals over alleged interference in the 2016 election, and the Trump administration announced sanctions in March against Russia, including people named in Mueller's indictments. On March 26, the United States and several European states announced plans to expel more than 100 Russian diplomats in response.

"The sanctions, which two sources said would be announced as early as Thursday, would follow the March 15 US decision to sanction 19 people and five entities, including Russian intelligence services, for cyber attacks stretching back at least two years", the message says.

World stocks under pressure from trade war fears
All three major European markets were shut on Friday and Monday, as investors enjoyed a four-day holiday weekend. China's position as an assembly hub for electronic devices makes it the biggest consumer of semiconductors.

Trump's outgoing national security adviser, H.R. McMaster, publicly called for a tougher line against Russian Federation in speech Tuesday, saying in the face of Putin's increasing aggression around the world, "We have failed to impose sufficient costs".

This week's sanctions will be targeted against Russian oligarchs, including those with ties to Putin, as well as the Russian government.

Russian Federation may be forcing the oligarchs to return to Russian Federation and return any stolen wealth as well.
