Apple to add touchless gesture control and curved display to future iPhones

Apple Testing 'Touchless' Gestures for the iPhone

Apple reportedly plans iPhones with curved screens and non-touch gesture controls

A future iPhone could be controlled without you even touching it. Apple is exploring touchless gesture control and curved screens, according to the latest rumors from Bloomberg.

According to Bloomberg, the new technology wouldn't arrive for another two years at least, and Apple has yet to determine whether or not it'll move forward with the ideas.

A potential new screen, meanwhile, would curve slightly inward from the top of the phone to the bottom. This would involve a screen where the actual middle of the display is lower than the top and bottom edges, resembling LG's Flex smartphone to an extent. Still in the early stages of development, microLED displays use tiny, individual LEDs to produce individual pixels in an image and are more energy-efficient, brighter, and longer-lasting than other display technologies. Also, talking about Apple producing a new sort of device is exciting, so any whisper is more likely jumped upon than most other news bits. An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment.

Gurman, who's renowned for Apple scoops, compared the touchless control feature to Samsung's Air Gestures function for Android - which lets users answer calls and browse web pages by waving their hand across their handset.

Mortal remains of youths from Himachal killed in Iraq consigned to flames
But after four days, they told us their hospital was damaged. "When the remains came to us, they were just skeletons, only bones. The kind of situation in which Mosul was, I can claim that nobody could have entered that area in such a situation", he said.

But Apple's feature will reportedly be baked into the iPhone's screen rather than through a separate sensor or via a motion sensor in the phone's border.

If you think the bezel-less iPhone X was the pinnacle of what Apple can achieve in smartphones, you may be wrong. Apple's version would require gestures to be closer to the screen than with Project Soli and the tech would be built into the display.

Apple wants to make sure iPad users know how to work with two apps at once, and also how an Apple Pencil can mark up screenshots.
