Katy Perry Nun Involved in Singer's Lawsuit Drops Dead in Court

Nun dies during court proceeding over property battle with LA Archdiocese, Katy Perry

On the day of her death, Sister Catherine gave a statement to KTTV as she entered the courthouse: "To Katy Perry, please stop".

ABC 7 in Los Angeles reports that one of the nuns in a legal battle with Katy Perry died in court on Friday.

A jury late a year ago ordered Hollister to pay $15 million in damages for interfering with the sale of the property But Sister Holzman, in an interview outside Hollister's Brite Spot diner in Echo Park, defended Hollister a few hours before before she collapsed in court.

In December 2017 a judge had decreed that the nun's preemptive sale of the property for well below its asking price to a local restaurateur was invalid, as the sisters had not received permission from Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez and the Vatican to sell.

The nun's website Stand With The Sisters posted a message alongside a photo of Holzman acknowledging her death. Holzman collapsed and died later in the courtroom, according to BuzzFeed.

Euro jumps as European Central Bank hints at the end of quantitative easing
What was driving the market? The euro rose from $1.2379 before the bank issued its policy statement to as high as $1.2425. The euro strengthened on the news of the European Central Bank dropping its easing bias on asset purchases.

The nun also begged Perry, a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton, to stop trying to buy their property before dying. Apparently, the Immaculate Heart's Sister Rita Callahan was less than thrilled with lyrics such as "let you put your hands on me in my skintight jeans" from Perry's smash hit, "Teenage Dream".

Perry reportedly visited the nuns in bid to win them over during the intial fight - and she reportedly showed them a tattoo of Jesus on her arm and sung a hymn for them. "Please archbishop. Do what is right in your heart", Callanan added.

The nuns instead sold the residence to local restaurant owner Dana Hollister, without the approval of their Archdiocese. "We extend our prayers today to the Immaculate Heart of Mary community and to all her friends and loved ones", he continued. "It's not doing anyone any good [and it's] hurting a lot of people".

The legal battle has been raging on since 2015 and has seen Hollister file for bankruptcy after the court ordered the payment of $5 million to Perry and $10 million to the Archdiocese.
