Richard Sherman thanks Seahawks'Memories to last a lifetime

Cornerback Richard Sherman #25 of the Seattle Seahawks celebrates after he tips the ball leading to an intereption by outside linebacker Malcolm Smith #53 to clinch the victory for the Seahawks against the San Francisco 49ers during the 2014 NFC Championship at CenturyLink Field on January 19, 2014 in Seattle, Washington.

Richard Sherman put the 49ers first on his free-agent visit list. But Adam Schefter reports "there's a real chance" San Francisco will be his first and last visit. While that still leaves room for at least one veteran, it would be odd for Detroit to go for a big-money veteran cornerback when there are much bigger needs elsewhere.

The Seahawks had wanted Sherman to stay in 2018, but due to concerns of his age (he turns 30 later this month) and his Achilles injury had recently approached him about restructuring his contract and taking a pay cut. Smith, who caught Sherman's tip of a Colin Kaepernick pass for a game-clinching interception in the 2014 NFC title game, is under contract with the 49ers through 2021 after signing with them past year.

"I want to go to a contender", Sherman said.

Alec Ogletree on trade to Giants: 'Everything happens for a reason'
Ogletree, 26, had 95 tackles, 2.0 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble last season in 15 games, all as a starter. Ogletree was a first-round pick out of Georgia in 2013 and started all but one game he appeared in for the Rams since.

Sherman made All-Pro four times in seven seasons with the Seahakws, who released him with a failed-physical designation to spare $11 million on their 2018 salary cap. He has since undergone surgery on his other Achilles.

Shaquill Griffin will return as the starter at right cornerback and the team is expected to tender restricted free agent Justin Coleman to return as the nickel corner.

He also turned his tongue to players. His 32 interceptions in that span are first among National Football League players, as are his 99 passes defended, according to the NFL.
