Rio, who returned to state politics after a gap of nearly four years after resigning from the Lok Sabha in 2014, also said that his government would ensure that the "votes cast in his party's favour do not go in vain".
Rio's predecessor, T.R. Zeliang, leader of the NPF Legislature Party, has promised to "extend full support" to the new government in the "larger" interest of the Naga people but has also indirectly conveyed to the new dispensation that the NPF will be no pushover, as it is a "factor" to be taken into "account" in all political processes.
Apart from the BJP top brass, regional heavyweights, Assam's chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, his counterparts in Manipur Biren Singh, Arunachal Pradesh's Pema Khandu, and Conrad Sangma of Meghalaya were also present at the Local Ground.
The NDPP-BJP alliance had won 30 seats (NDPP 18, BJP 12) in the February 27 Nagaland Assembly polls.
He was elected from the state's lone Lok Sabha seat in 2014.
Earlier in the day, officials from the Election Commission of India (ECI) along with State Chief Electoral Officer Abhijit Sinha submitted a notification constituting the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly to the Governor.
The former Chief Minister of the state, TR Zeliang denied resigning from the post as he wanted to have a word with the BJP President Amit Shah to form a government in the state. The independent candidate Tongpang Ozukum and JD (U)'s G Kaito Aye were also inducted into the new cabinet.
However, on Tuesday, BJP has denied any support to NPF and broke the 15 years tie with the party.
