No details were given on when the meeting will be held or who will attend, in the announcement by Zhang Yesui, spokesman for China's top legislature and ambassador to the US from 2009 to 2012.

It is "a new type of party system growing from China's soil", said Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, when attending a joint panel discussion with political advisors from two non-communist parties, those without party affiliation and those from the sector of returned overseas Chinese, at the first session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

The U.S. goods trade deficit with China reached a record $375 billion a year ago, by far the largest the U.S. had with any country. "In recent years, China has moderately raised defense investment", he told a Sunday news conference, as quoted by Reuters.

Zhang emphasized that trade disputes should be resolved through dialogue.

The omission highlights the general lack of official data about China's military, as defense officials in the USA and Asia seek more information about Beijing's strategic intentions. "The next step both sides will take is to work out specific details to address the issues, and we've sent out an invitation", he said.

Liverpool stun Newcastle at Anfield as Manchester United drops to third
Jurgen Klopp thinks Liverpool miss Philippe Coutinho but he is glad that his side aren't showing that they miss him on the pitch. But any frustration was eased five minutes before the break when Salah made the most of his first clear-cut chance.

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent his senior economic adviser, Liu He, to Washington late last month in a bid to ease trade tensions with the United States.

These remarks come after Trump on Thursday announced that his administration will impose 25 per cent on steel imports and 10 per cent on aluminium products and described trade wars as "good".

"But if the USA takes actions that hurt Chinese interests, China will not sit idly by and will take necessary measures", Zhang said in China's strongest reaction yet since Trump announced the levies on Friday.

Since his election campaign in 2016, US President Donald Trump has been criticizing US trade partners over their alleged dumping practices and calling for the renegotiation of trade agreements with many countries to tackle losses of manufacturing jobs in the United States.

He said China defended and contributed to the UN-centered global order, but also said some reforms were necessary.
