Gunshots Reportedly Fired Near White House, Says US Secret Service

The Secret Service said its personnel is responding to reports of a person who allegedly shot themselves near the White House.

The District of Columbia police said its homicide/natural death unit is responding.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m., the man was found outside the north White House fence suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, said a news release from the Secret Service.

President Trump and the first lady were in Florida at the time and not at the residence, nor was any member of the first family.

Trump has been briefed on the incident, according to White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley.
