Liverpool stun Newcastle at Anfield as Manchester United drops to third

Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has criticised his players for "making mistakes" and failing to cope with Liverpool's forward line in Saturday's 2-0 loss at Anfield.

He has now scored as many as the entire Toon team in the current campaign.

Firmino has been in brilliant form along with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, with Liverpool FC having earned plenty of praise for their fine attacking displays so far this season.

Jurgen Klopp thinks Liverpool miss Philippe Coutinho but he is glad that his side aren't showing that they miss him on the pitch.

The Magpies now sit 15th in the table but are just two points off the drop zone following their 2-2 draw with Bournemouth last time out so Benitez will be desperate to take a positive result away tonight. It's understandable thinking given Newcastle are painfully short on goals: Dwight Gayle is the team's top scorer in the league with just five.

But any frustration was eased five minutes before the break when Salah made the most of his first clear-cut chance.

The Egypt winger took Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's pass and shot low under Martin Dubravka for his 32nd goal of the season and his eighth in his last seven appearances.

Facebook scraps idea of splitting newsfeed
Facebook routinely makes changes to its News Feed to show users more (or less) of specific types of content, like live video. In October, Facebook rolled out its " Explore Feed " to help users discover content from outside their standard feed.

Firmino had the awareness to slip the ball back to Mane, who curled home his fifth goals in his last three games.

Substitute Chris Wood scored a header in the 80th minute to give Burnley their first Premier League victory in 12 games with a 2-1 win against 10-man Everton at Turf Moor.

Salah has had a stunning first season at Liverpool since arriving from Serie A giants Roma last summer. "I am the Newcastle manager, and I've got to be sure we go there and we compete".

In his last two meetings with Benitez, Klopp feels Liverpool have gifted Newcastle points - throwing away leads in both encounters.

He said: "We won four trophies, we played three finals, we reached the semi-final of the Europa League, so the time that we were there with the results that we had, we did well and the people remember that".

- The Reds have scored more Premier League goals against Newcastle than they have versus any other side in the competition.
