Mattis and Kelly planning to push Gen. McMaster out of White House next month, new report says
According to half a dozen defense and administration officials, the Pentagon is looking at the possibility of allowing the President to potentially move the three-star general from his current role in the administration into a four-star military role, CNNreported.
"As the President said yesterday in the Oval Office to a number of people, he thinks [McMaster] is doing a great job and is glad he is here", Sanders said on Friday morning.

The report naming Catz as a potential choice to be President Donald Trump's next national security adviser comes amid speculation that McMaster is set to leave the administration - reports his spokesman denied on Thursday.
The Thursday report suggested that McMaster will soon be replaced by Ford executive Stephen Biegun, who served in the George W. Bush administration.
National Security Adviser H.R. McMasters, shown with President Donald Trump, said "we're in a race" with North Korea. He now serves as the vice president of global governmental affairs for Ford and served on the NSC from 2001 to 2003 and worked under Condoleezza Rice.
He would be President Trump's third security adviser.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders downplayed the tweet two days later.
One of many remarks that drew the president's quick rebuke was McMaster's comment at a forum in Germany that Russian meddling in the United States election was "incontrovertible", according to the report. Trump forced out Michael Flynn after revelations that he misled administration officials about his contacts with the Russian ambassador to the U.S. He later pleaded guilty to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about those interactions.
In February, Mueller indicted Russian entities suspected of interfering in the 2016 election.
