Graham Praised By Trump, Other Politicians As 'America's Pastor'
New York's banking and insurance regulator has asked Deutsche Bank and two NY lenders for information related to their dealings with Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law and a White House senior adviser, according to a person familiar with the investigation, but who is not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.
Joshua Harris, a founder of Apollo Global Management, was advising Trump administration officials on infrastructure policy. And although that never came to fruition, Apollo lent Kushner Companies $184 million in November - three times as large as the normal real estate loan doled out by the company.
If the Kushners have nothing to hide, they certainly don't act like it; on February 9, Kushner Cos. filed a motion in federal court for a new venue for its Maryland apartment complex case in an attempt to avoid revealing the identities of the project's investors.
The Washington Postreported on Tuesday that U.S. officials had intercepted conversations among officials from at least four foreign governments - China, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mexico and Israel - about using business opportunities to seek leverage over Mr Kushner.
The New York State Department of Financial Services asked several banks for information about their relationships with Jared Kushner and his finances, people familiar with the information requests said.
Kushner reportedly received a $325 million loan from Citigroup.
. Kushner Cos. attorneys had argued that exposing the names would lead to "politically motivated" media coverage and "unfair sensationalism".
The report revealed that officials in Israel, the United Arab Emirates, China and Mexico discussed ways to utilize Kushner's business ties and foreign-policy naiveté to their advantage, though it is unclear if any of them acted on their discussions. His real estate holdings and other investments are worth as much as $761 million, according to government ethics filings. "Stories like these attempt to make insinuating connections that do not exist to disparage the financial institutions and companies involved", spokeswoman Christine Taylor said.
Since the beginning of the Trump administration, both Mr Kushner, 37, and his wife, Ms Ivanka Trump, the President's eldest daughter, 36, have enjoyed a special status within the White House as both family members and assistants to the President. The Kushner family and Kushner Cos. have been clients since 2010, she said.
Kushner last Friday was informed that his temporary security clearance was downgraded from Top Secret/SCI-level to Secret level, cutting him off from classified information he had been accessing as his background check by the Federal Bureau of Investigation dragged on.
Kushner resigned as CEO of the real estate business in early January 2017, but he still retained some of his interest in the company. Kushner also still holds a stake in the entity that owns the Brooklyn buildings and received the loan from Citigroup. At the time, the spokeswoman for Kushner Cos. said the firm "has cooperated and will continue to cooperate with any reasonable request for information".
