Paul Manafort served as President Trump's campaign chairman from June to August 2016

Details of an indictment by special counsel Robert Mueller allege Paul Manafort laundered more than $30m in income, with the help of Donald Trump's ex-deputy campaign manager Rick Gates. At least one bank employee says they felt pressure to sign-off on the loans and is said to be cooperating with the investigation. In August 2016 S. Kalk was included in the collection of economic advisors trump, then a candidate for U.S. President. According to court papers attached to his plea agreement, the conversations, including some using encrypted applications, occurred in September 2016 and involved possible criminal charges being brought in Ukraine against a former Ukrainian official, Manafort and "Law Firm A", an apparent reference to Skadden Arps.

The new indictment comes a week after Mueller filed charges against 13 Russians, accusing them of a vast conspiracy to undermine the USA presidential election.

The loans in question were made to Manafort in December of 2016 and January of 2017 and relied on his homes in the Hamptons and Brooklyn as collateral. Calk did not ultimately get a job in the current administration. Though Calk never did receive a White House job, he has benefited from his proximity to Trump. Manafort and Calk was reported by NBC News earlier on Wednesday.

They have pleaded not guilty.

The 32-count indictment filed in the Eastern District of Virginia includes numerous tax and bank fraud charges.

In court documents filed Friday, Mueller's office said investigators have uncovered new evidence of bank fraud.

Manafort, who was Trump's campaign manager for nearly five months in 2016, and Gates, who was deputy campaign manager, pleaded not guilty past year to Mueller's charges.
