Bannon Apologizes for Role in Book Critical of White House

He was referring to the book "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House", by Michael Wolff, which was released Friday. Bannon exited the White House in 2017, when he returned to Breitbart News as executive chairman.

Publishers of Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House released the book early, ignoring threats of a legal challenge from the president's lawyers to prevent its publication.

Bannon, who is also head of the far-right Breitbart News, doubled down on his backing for Trump as well, saying his support was " I have shown daily in my national radio broadcasts, on the pages of Breitbart News and in speeches and appearances from Tokyo and Hong Kong to Arizona and Alabama".

"(And then) ran for president one time and won, and then I hear this guy that does not know me, does not know me at all. "He should have known they are duplicitous, cunning and not our friends", Bannon said.

Bannon's comments led to a falling out with President Trump, who said Bannon "lost his mind" after leaving the White House a year ago. "That's the background to the perception and the understanding that will finally end ... this presidency".

"The chance that Don Jr. did not walk these jumos up to his father's office on the twenty sixth floor is zero", Bannon says in the book.

Bannon apologized Sunday, saying that Trump Jr.

Bannon concluded the statement, which was first published by Axios, by expressing regret for diverting attention away from the nuances of the President's accomplishment.

Miller, a senior policy adviser, said the book was a " grotesque work of fiction" and said it was "tragic and unfortunate" that Bannon made the comments in the book that he did.
