Customs computer outage causes delays at airports

"At this time, there is no indication the service disruption was malicious in nature", she said.

Travelers entering the U.S. have been growing increasingly frustrated at long security queues as immigration desk computers at various USA airports shut down for about two hours on Monday, media reports have said.

A two-hour CBP systems outage hit various airports across the country, beginning at 4:30 p.m. PST.

The system went down at about 7:30 p.m. and came back online at about 9:30 p.m., customs and border protection spokeswoman Jennifer Gabris said. Agents were still able to process passengers using an alternative system, albeit at a much slower rate.

Crystal Palace Penalty Almost Ends Man City's Unbeaten Run
Palace's on-loan Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah added: "We were aggressive and I think we gave them a good game". I am talking about the game we have to sit down and see what happened with Gabriel and Kevin and we will see".

Travelers entering the United States from overseas posted photos on social media of long lines at John F. Kennedy International Airport in NY and at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Line is a few 100 deep. "Happy New Year!" said Jessica Yang, a program manager at Microsoft, in a Twitter post.

The outage affected passengers at JFK, LaGuardia and Newark airports, said Port Authority spokesman Rudy King.

As Reuters notes, a similar outage occurred at the same time past year, so it might be that the customs systems were slammed with Christmas travelers and couldn't handle the excess traffic. Issue affected other USA airports.
