Trump continues attack on Federal Bureau of Investigation, calls Clinton dossier 'garbage'

"This attack on the Federal Bureau of Investigation is really unprecedented, and Republican leadership, if they want to demonstrate any loyalty, not to the president, but to the country and to our institutions, needs to step up and say stop it", said former Maryland Representative Donna Edwards.

President Trump on Tuesday slammed the repudiated Russian Federation dossier that was funded by the Democratic Party and helped fuel investigations into whether his presidential campaign colluded with the Kremlin, calling it a "Crooked Hillary pile of garbage".

Trump was referring to a dossier, presumably harmful to his reputation, compiled a year ago by a private investigator and paid for, in part, by Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's campaign team.

The Fox and Friends morning show, a favourite of the President, ran several segments about alleged conflicts of interest by FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, as well as the dossier.

"'Dossier is bogus. Clinton Campaign, DNC funded Dossier".

The dossier, a compilation of opposition research against the 2016 Trump campaign by British ex-intelligence agent Christopher Steele, was partly funded by Mrs Clinton's campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

But in the months since the dossier first leaked, independent investigations by the US intelligence community have corroborated key details first uncovered in the dossier, contrary to Trump's assertion that the entire document is "bogus".

Trump's favorite show gave extensive coverage today to unverified aspects of Fusion GPS' dossier, as well as the recent controversy and allegations of bias surrounding Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation. "These were the people who were investigating Hillary Clinton".
