Donald Trump threatens to cut 'billions of dollars' aid to countries over UN Jerusalem vote

MSNBC star Joe Scarborough slammed Nikki Haley on Friday

The United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly defied U.S. warnings and voted Thursday to condemn President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and move the U.S. Embassy there from Tel Aviv.

In 1995, Rep. Joe Scarborugh (R-FL) proposed the "United Nations Withdrawal Act".

The resolution was the global community's response to the Trump administration's declaration that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and stated intention to move the US embassy there. It is to be seen on whom U.S. will take its anger out on and cut help to major recipients of United States aid such as Egypt, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Greece and Cyprus were among the states that supported the decision which reaffirmed what has been the United Nations' stand on the divided holy city since 1967: that Jerusalem's final status must be decided in direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

By contrast, Haley, and Trump, merely suggested that the USA would reconsider its funding to the United Nations.

Greater Baton Rouge has suffered a 14 percent decrease in Red Kettle donations in comparison to last year's donations. The Salvation Army says this year's goal is still lacking $100,000 to meet its campaign goal for 2017.

Haley said "the United States will remember this day" when it was "singled out for attack". She said, following the resolution brought by a number of countries to the United Nations, that the Trump administration was closely observing the developments with regard to the resolution and would be "taking names" of the countries that would vote in the resolution's favour.

The two-state policy refers to a solution of the Israeli Palestinian that envisages an independent State of Palestine alongside the State of Israel, which the latter has rejected. Every Arab state supported the resolution. The US, therefore, provides financial and other aid in order to avail those resources from the regional countries. "We will remember it when we are called upon to once again make the world's largest contribution" to the U.N. and when other member nations ask Washington "to pay even more and to use our influence for their benefit". The very crudeness of the tactics, and the offense taken to bullying, probably made the tactics counterproductive.

"You sit and listen to Nikki Haley, and as a representative of the United States of America, and it's breathtaking that she would actually threaten to cut off aid", Scarborough responded. This discrepancy between reality and uber-nationalist belief predates Trump and has existed at least since the post-Cold War "unipolar moment" that was barely a moment, if that.
