An elderly couple pulled over in Nebraska reportedly told cops that the massive stash of drugs allegedly found in their truck was meant to be Christmas presents.

Law enforcement officers in Nebraska arrested Patrick Jiron, 80, and Barbara Jiron, 83, on Tuesday, December 19, 2017.

The sheriff's deputies told the York News-Times that they pulled over a pickup when it drove over the center line and the driver failed to signal.

After the stop, deputies said they smelled marijuana coming from the pickup. Barbara was not arrested, but Patrick was.

Orioles pitcher Zach Britton suffers Achilles injury
Moments after reports would surface suggesting they wouldn't be fielding anymore offers on Manny Machado , this news broke . If the Orioles did have the depth to withstand a significant injury, it was in their deep, late-inning bullpen arsenal.

Upon pulling them over, the stench of green was so strong that the po-po brought along the county canine unit to search the vehicle. They were simply spreading holiday cheer, they told authorities. That's when deputies found the cannabis, along with several containers of concentrated THC. They were headed to Vermont.

The marijuana was seized and it is estimated that the street value is $336,000, according to Sgt. Vrbka. Nebraska punishes possession of up to one ounce with a $300 citation but the sale of any amount is a felony.

A December 22 updated from the York News-Times indicated Patrick was booked into the York County Jail "on charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver and having no drug tax stamp".

When asked about the Jirons' custody status by the Washington Post, authorities simply replied, "they're not here". While multiple states have legalized marijuana, Nebraska has not.
