Kaka Announces Retirement from Football on Instagram

Rob Smith's Football El Mundo

The blog is a little saddened that the attractive game loses one if it's finest players of our era today, as Kaka has announced his retirement from football aged 35. "And very aware, I came to a conclusion that it's time to end my career as a professional footballer".

He confirmed his retirement on his official Twitter account, saying: "Father, It was much more than I could ever imagined".

Kaka tweeted Sunday that "I'm now ready for the next journey".

"I prepared a lot to be a professional player and I want to prepare for this new role, I want to see a little outside".

Kaka most recently played for Orlando City in Major League Soccer and in October said this third season would be his last with the team, though he left his future open.

Los Angeles Angels land Ian Kinsler from Detroit
Danny Espinosa and Cliff Pennington split time there for the Halos last season; both are no longer with the club. In return, the Tigers will receive right-handed pitcher Wikel Hernandez and outfielder Troy Montgomery .

Kaka will be remembered as being one of the elite Brazilian players that wowed the crowds and his list of silverware - both team and indvidual (including the Ballon d'Or) will strengthen that argument.

But Kaka told Globo he intends to take on a sporting director role within the game and revealed a proposal from Milan featuring him playing initially before moving upstairs.

I needed a bit of time to think and make my decision with calm. "Just because I have had success as a player it does not mean that I will have it as a Director so I want to take some time out to prepare".

"Then I asked some very close people, my parents, my brother, my girlfriend and my brother's wife. These are things I will start to prepare myself for, and from here on to approach another role in football".

Kaka announced this year he would not extend his contract with Orlando City but he opened the door to a possible return to Milan, the club where he made his name.
