"Bryan Singer is no longer the director of Bohemian Rhapsody", a 2oth Century Fox spokesperson told TheWrap. There's also been conflict with Malek, who has reportedly complained to the studio about Singer's behavior.
Bryan Singer, the director of movies like X-Men, The Usual Suspects, and Jack the Giant Slayer, has been fired from Bohemian Rhapsody, 20th Century Fox'sQueen biopic that stars Mr. Robot actor Rami Malek as frontman Freddie Mercury. Obviously, there are millions of dollars on the line here, and that's a lot of pressure for any director, even one as experienced as Singer. Cinematographer Thomas Newton Sigel repeatedly had to step in to film on the days that Singer was a no-show. The firing is apparently the result of the escalating friction between the director and actor Rami Malek, who is playing the lead role.
The director has reportedly been routinely tardy during filming, and went missing several times. Before Thanksgiving, Malek confronted Singer about being unprofessional, however it did not get physical and according to the trade, the two settled their differences.
Sourcestell the Hollywood Reporter that Singer, who according to reports has frequently been late to set, has made filming hard. The outlet says an insider claims Singer is "suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder because of the tensions on the set". THR is reporting that director Bryan Singer has been fired from the project and production stopped, and y'all, the details on this are wild.
This is not first time that Singer has disappeared during a production.
With principal photography almost complete, the studio is reportedly still planning to release Bohemian Rhapsody on the originally scheduled date - December 25, 2018.
