Florida teen who went missing with 27-year-old soccer coach is found safe in New York
Rodriguez had been working as a boys' soccer coach at Fort White High School, but was suspended pending the investigation, according to a statement from Lex Carswell, superintendent of Columbia County Schools.
Caitlyn Frisina, who disappeared from her home last Saturday, was found safe in Syracuse after a New York State Police Officer spotted the red Mercury with Florida plates plastered on her missing poster, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.
Frisina was detained and her family has been notified, the sheriff's office said. According to the friend, Caitlyn said the two were planning to leave and she (Caitlyn) didn't know how to get out of going.
Law enforcement officials had confirmed this week that Frisina, 17, was with 27-year-old Rian Rodriguez, traveling north from Florida after they were seen at a pawn shop in Fayetteville, N.C. on Sunday.
The 17-year-old, who played soccer at her Florida high school, may have been in a relationship with the assistant boys' soccer coach Rian Rodriguez, who was with Frisina in the auto when police intervened around 4 p.m. Friday.
Sheriff Mark Hunter didn't detail the relationship between Frisina and Rodriguez and said his primary focus was to bring the teen home safely.
Rush hour natural disaster shakes region Significant damage does not typically occur with quakes of this size, and so far there are no reports of any injuries. The station also writes that Paul Caruso, a geophysicist with the USGS, says there is potential for aftershocks.
The two were believed to be headed north, authorities said earlier this week.
Marcy Frisina, the aunt of Caitllyn Frisina, shared a photo on Facebook of the family embracing.
"We love you, and we miss you, and we need to know that you're safe", Frisina said during a Thursday news conference.
Her parents reported her missing on Sunday.
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office contacted Rodriguez's cellphone service provider, obtained an exigent form and requested his phone be pinged.
