Syrian state television has confirmed that Israel attacked a military base outside of Damascus overnight on Friday, which Israeli media reports involved both surface-to-surface missiles and airstrikes, while Syria says its air defense systems were engaged and intercepted two missiles.
The strike was likely conducted by the Israeli military and targeted some government military bases in al-Kiswah, located in the southwest outskirts of the Syrian capital, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
Syrian state TV reports that the attack caused damage but two missiles were intercepted.
Tehran has helped prop up the Syrian regime with militias and officers.
