On Dec. 3 Earth will view its only visible "supermoon" of the year, making the planet's moon appear much larger and brighter than at any other point in 2017. This will be the first and last supermoon of the year. Specially, NASA describes the occurrence as a new or full moon that occurs when the moon is within 90% of its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit. And while 7 percent bigger and 16 percent brighter than the average full moon may not sound that impressive, compared to a micromoon (when the full moon is at the farther end of its reach), a supermoon appears even more bodacious. This is what makes the natural satellite appear bigger and brighter. As this point, it benefits from the "moon illusion", an optical trick in which it appears huge when seen against the human-scaled environment.
A supermoon occurs when the sun, moon and Earth align, and a full or new moon aligns with the sun's lunar orb. This changes where the Moon is in orbit during each full moon.
The next full moon you're going to see will be absolutely extraordinary.
. If you do happen to stay inside, you'll have two more chances in January 2018 to catch a supermoon, first on Jan. 2 and again on Jan. 31.
The full moon will be visible in the constellation of Taurus and it is said to be officially full on December 3, it will still appear as a full moon to the spectators a night before and after.
To take a picture of the supermoon with a smartphone, tap on the moon on the screen and hold your finger in place to lock the camera's focus.
Get your eyes to the sky, America, because the supermoon is coming.
When the splendid full moon rises this weekend, she'll look a bit bigger and brighter than usual. "Still, it's a great excuse to just go out and look at the sky", says Nichols. Then do it somewhere else.

Clemson leads college playoff pack, but Alabama is lurking
The system would rank Wisconsin and Clemson as No. 1 and No. 2 with Auburn, Georgia, and Alabama on the outside looking in. Looks like it, especially if Auburn wins the SEC , but it likely will require a loss by either Wisconsin or Oklahoma .
