Aston Martin Valkyrie: Track version of car designed by Adrian Newey
Set to arrive in 2020, the Aston Martin ValkyrieAMR Pro receives more power and additional aerodynamic updates compared to the road vehicle.
Red Bull Technology's Chief Technical Officer, Adrian Newey, said: "While it is endowed with extraordinary performance, it has always been vitally important to me that the Valkyrie functions well as a true road auto, and that naturally comes with some constraints". The front and rear wings are much larger, with the active aero system also revised, and there's now a central fin running along the spine like those fitted to prototype endurance racers.
The Aston Martin Valkyrie is one of the most extreme road cars money can buy, thanks to its 1,000bhp V12 engine, super-light bodywork and F1-style downforce. Output for the car's Rimac Energy Recovery System will remain the same but its control systems will be reprogrammed for optimum track output.
Developed with Red Bull Advanced Technologies and AP Racing, just 25 Valkyrie AMR Pro models will be made and all have already been sold - at a price thought to be above £3 million.
Former Irish International Liam Miller Is Fighting Cancer Bad news about Liam Miller keep the fingers crossed that he somehow pulls through. "That's from the whole team and everyone". Miller began his career with Celtic in 2000, winning the Scottish Premiership in 2004 before leaving that same summer.
The opportunity has also been taken to make further weight savings, both through the removal of extraneous items such as the heater/de-mister blower and infotainment screens fitted to the road auto, and through the fitment of new ultra-lightweight track-specific components. This AMR Pro variant is surely the Valkyrie that maximises the full potential within Newey's design. The car's polycarbonate windshield has heater elements in it that are much lighter than keeping the blower for visibility in muggy conditions, for example. You know, the top class from Le Mans that became too expensive to go on in its current form.
All this will result in a vehicle good for better than 400 km/h (250 mph) and for cornering G-forces of 3.3G. British developers revealed the appearance and some information on racing AMR Aston Martin Valkyrie Pro. They sit outside Formula One-inspired race-spec carbon brakes. This includes time in the simulator and professional on-track tuition, plus programmes to improve their physical fitness.
Pricing for this vehicle hasn't been announced yet, but it doesn't matter: All 25 have been sold, with deliveries set for 2020. When the vehicle debuts in 2020, all owners will be invited to special track events set up just for the model. Deliveries aren't expected until 2020, which is about how long it'll take us mere mortals to process that this thing even exists.
