Rand Paul Attack Was Over 'Trivial' Matter

Rand Paul's assault study at Kentucky house: neighbour arrested

US Senator Rand Paul's ribs broken in assault at home

The arrest warrant in the case indicates that Paul told police that his neighbor came onto his property and tackled him from behind, forcing him to the ground and causing pain.

According to Trooper Jeremy Hodges, a spokesman for the Kentucky State Police, the new information regarding the seriousness of Paul's injuries could prompt prosecutors to charge Boucher with a felony.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., speaks about health insurance at the River House Restaurant, Thursday, July 6, 2017, in Louisville, Ky.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Monday wished his Bluegrass State colleague a speedy recovery.

Paul, a second-term senator and former GOP presidential candidate, was attacked by Boucher, 59, on Friday outside his home in Bowling Green, Ky., police said. That echoed word from Paul's office, which initially said the Republican senator was fine after being blindsided by an attacker. "The unfortunate occurrence of November 3rd has absolutely nothing to do with either's politics or political agendas".

It remained unclear when Paul would return to work.

"Senator Paul has five rib fractures including 3 displaced fractures". He added, "This type of injury is caused by high velocity severe force. It is not clear exactly how soon he will return to work, as the pain is considerable as is the difficulty in getting around, including flying", Stafford said.

Boucher, who was released on Saturday with a $7,500 bond, was charged with fourth-degree assault.

The neighbor was arrested after the incident in Bowling Green, Ky., officials said.

The statement by Rene Boucher's attorney notes Boucher and Paul were two physicians who worked together when they were practicing, according to CBS News.

Boucher applied for a patent for the vest in 2003 and has marketed it through the QVC shopping channel.

"He hadn't really talked to his neighbour in years", Robert also said that he has never seen neighbours visiting the Paul's in all these years, Paul's no doubt is very less- interactive to people.

U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI are investigating the incident because assaulting a member of Congress is a federal crime.

"Warren County Attorney Amy Milliken said further charges could be brought, based on the extent of Paul's injuries", the Daily News reports.
