277mph Koenigsegg Agera RS is the new fastest car in the world

The Koenigsegg Agera RS Is Now the Fastest Production Car Ever Made

The two runs took place on Nevada's Route 160 between Las Vegas and Pahrump.

In the two races coupe Koenigsegg Agera RS showed an average result of 444,6 km/h. the Maximum recorded speed of 447 km/h.

The VW-owned exotic manufacturer should have taken notice of last month's broken record for the 0-249-0 miles per hour category - and it seems the exact same example that was used then to beat the mighty Chiron is also responsible for the new record, the most prestigious of them all.

On its first run the Koenigsegg registered a top speed of 271.2mph, beating the Veyron even while battling an incline and oncoming winds.

To hit these incredible speeds, the Agera RS is built using a lightweight carbon fiber body and an aluminum honeycomb monocoque structure.

The Venom never officially held the record because it only did a single run in one direction. You'd hesitate to call Michelin's Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres "stock" given their capability, nevertheless they are still Y rated - which means that the manufacturer guarantees them up to 186mph; quite some way from 277.9mph.

For those out of the loop, the Koenigsegg Agera RS is a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8-powered Swedish hypercar.

Unveiled at SEMA earlier this week, the Hennessey Venom F5 was teased with a 300mph road-sign.

Racelogic uploaded a video of the successful world record attempt, taken by the VBOX HD2 inside the cockpit of the Koenigsegg Agera RS.

Koenigsegg's record is particularly impressive because it was completed not only in a production vehicle, but down a section of public highway using "standard" tyres.
