Court records unsealed Monday indicated another campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos, met in 2016 with Russians who said they had connections to the government and had "dirt" on Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Sessions later recused himself from all matters related to the campaign, citing his support for the President's successful bid. "Completely unrelated to my limited volunteer role with the campaign and as I've done dozens of times throughout my life". The call for more testimony came amidst revelations that Sessions may have committed perjury during his confirmation hearing.

Sessions' failure to disclose those meetings ultimately led to his recusal from the Justice Department's Russian Federation investigation, and functioned as one of the many missteps that triggered the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller. Other officials include Trump's former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

"I don't know", Trump told reporters Friday on the White House lawn as he prepared to board Marine One for the first leg of trip to Asia. "It matters what Papadopoulos said" in the meeting, one Justice Department official said. When Page spoke with CNN's Jake Tapper on Friday afternoon, he said he had only met with academics and a few business people whom he had "known for over a decade".

Sessions' discussion with Page will fuel further scrutiny about what the attorney general knew about connections between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation - and communications about Russian Federation that he did not disclose despite a persistent line of questioning in three separate hearings this year.

A source close to Sessions defended the attorney general, promising he "has been entirely truthful and consistent on this matter". He also testified that he was "not aware" of anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicating with the Russians.

Mobile, Sprint call off merger attempt
The two companies came close to announcing a merger in 2014 but called it off at the last minute due to regulatory concerns. It slipped behind T-Mobile to become the country's fourth biggest mobile provider, and has a significant amount of debt.

"Back in June 2016, I mentioned in passing that I happened to be planning to give a speech at a university in Moscow".

On Wednesday, Democrats said Sessions needs to clarify his comments.

"He had no knowledge of any conversations by anyone connected to the Trump campaign with any Russian or any foreign officials concerning any type of interference with any campaign or election in the United States", the unnamed source insisted.

Conaway said that Page was "fulsome" in his answers and he answered all of the questions the committee asked.

"Which is why it's such a mystery why George Papadopoulos... would lie to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his meetings with Russians when they weren't illegal".

A photograph posted on Trump's Instagram account shows Papadopoulos sitting two seats from Jeff Sessions, now Trump's attorney general, at the meeting, which Trump also attended.
