BREAKING | Senate President Stephen Parry may be a dual-citizen

Senate President Stephen Parry has reportedly informed the government he may be a dual citizen

Australian Senate President Stephen Parry confirmed Wednesday he is a British dual citizen due to his United Kingdom -born father and said he will resign.

It's understood Mr Parry has been unhappy with reports that he failed to disclose his citizenship issues earlier.

"Stephen Parry has been a tremendous servant of the people of Tasmania since 2005 and there are many people, like myself, who are deeply disappointed by the news that he will be leaving the Senate", Senator Abetz said in a statement.

Parry's successor is expected to be another government senator.

It means that Senator Parry is now the eighth person to be caught up in the scandal.

Mr Joyce - who was punted from office by the High Court last week - on Wednesday said other members of parliament needed to speak up immediately rather than wait to fall foul of the constitution.

Zach Miller Injures Left Leg On Overturned 25-Yard Touchdown
TE Zach Miller landed awkwardly on his left leg on an apparent 25-yard TD catch and was carted off the field in the third quarter. What are your thoughts on Miller's touchdown catch getting called back after suffering from that nasty injury?

Given that Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce was booted from parliament after it was revealed he was a duel citizen of New Zealand.

Joyce is running in a by-election to be held on December 2.

"In the event I am found to hold British citizenship by virtue of my father's status, then I will clearly be in breach of Section 44 of the constitution and would therefore resign as president of the Senate and further resign as a Senator for the state of Tasmania, as I believe the High Court has made it abundantly clear what action is required", Parry said.

Liberal member Craig Kelly said election authorities should conduct a full audit of everyone's record and Richard Di Natale, leader of the minority Greens party, supported the move saying "we're entering constitutional crisis territory here".

He said Monday was his first chance to write to the Home Office about his citizenship since the High Court decision.

Rather than 'fess up and refer himself for adjudication, he took the cowardly path of sitting back and letting his Senate colleagues take the heat, while crossing his fingers the High Court would clear them.
