Tokyo police have found nine bodies including two with their heads severed in a flat in the city suburbsMore
October 31 (Jiji Press)-Body parts of at least nine people have been discovered at an apartment in Zama, Kanagawa Prefecture, southwest of Tokyo, as police were searching for a missing woman, investigative sources said Tuesday.
Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department made the discovery while investigating Takahiro Shiraishi in connection with the disappearance of a 23-year-old woman from Hachioji.
"I killed (a person) and dismembered the body and put them into a cooler box with cat litter in order to hide the evidence", Shiraishi said, according to police, as reported by CNN. Police suspect one of the bodies may belong to the 23-year-old woman.
An investigation was launched after the woman's older brother reported her missing to the Takao Police Station in western Tokyo on October 24, saying he had not been able to contact her since October 21. Shiraishi allegedly told the police that he cut up the bodies in the bath, disposing of some body parts in the garbage.
Shiraishi has told police he contacted his prey via Twitter and killed them "on the day he met" them, according to several media citing police sources. "I'm looking for someone to die with me", she posted on the website. Shiraishi's neighbors noticed "foul smells" near his apartment lately. But, lately the country has been ripe with tragic, high-profile murders.

In Japan, a low-crime country, it is the grimmest such case since a former employee of a centre for the disabled went on a knife rampage there, killing 19 people previous year. She had been missing since September 21.
The police are expected to file murder charges later.
According to The Asahi Shimbun, the brother provided the police with Shiraishi's Twitter handle, and investigators identified another woman who had been in touch with the suspect.
"In August, there was a smell, similar to that from sewage, coming from his residence", says a male company employee who lives in the same apartment building as Shiraishi.
