In a lawsuit Kaepernick accused the NFL owners of colluding to keep him unsigned in 2017

Kaepernick started the trend of kneeling for the anthem past year when he played quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, in a protest against racial inequality and police brutality.

National Football League spokesman Joe Lockhart said on a conference call Wednesday morning that he anticipated Kaepernick would be invited to discuss social justice issues at the upcoming meetings.

Quarterback Colin Kaepernick has signed a book deal worth more than $1 million with Random House, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday.

Those meetings are scheduled for next Tuesday in NY.

Wet and cool weather in forecast
The warm weather will continue through the beginning of the week before a cold front moves through on Tuesday . Temperatures will only reach into the lower 60s making it feel very cool outside during the rain.

Former San Francisco 49er quarterback Kaepernick, 29, has been unemployed this season despite injuries at other teams that have created job openings. Just as players have a right to protest at any venue and for any objective they choose, so, too, does the VFW post, he said. Although Kaepernick has not played for the NFL this season, players have continued to kneel or sit during the national anthem in solidarity with Kaepernick. According to ESPN, that meeting included 13 current or former players, plus 11 owners and representatives from the league and the NFL Players Association.

The meeting will take place 16 days after Kaepernick filed a grievance against the National Football League owners for collusion. He is not working through the NFLPA, but has hired high-profile lawyer Mark Geragos to represent him.

Kaepernick was invited to last week's gathering in NY by the players coalition but has not yet attended any of the recent meetings with the league.

The protests have since turned political, with President Donald Trump calling on players to stand for the anthem, and others to say they will boycott the league for not punishing players who protest.
