Daredevil: Wilson Fisk to Return in Season 3
27 October 2017, 01:04 | Yvette Williams
Kingpin is officially back for season 3 of Daredevil
"Vincent is an exceptional actor who returns with the incredible gravitas he brings to Fisk", Daredevil's executive producer and head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said in a statement. According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Vincent D'Onofrio is set to return as Wilson Fisk in Marvel's Daredevil season 3. Steven S. DeKnight served in the role before Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez took over for the second season. His portrayal of the character in Daredevil season 1 is fantastic. Star Charlie Cox has confirmed that the third season of Daredevil will be loosely inspired by the story in the wake of The Defenders, so even at its loosest it isn't that surprising that Wilson Fisk will still play a major role in the TV version of this saga.
Along with the news of the return of Fisk, Season 3 will have a new showrunner in Erik Olsen.
Overall, D'Onofrio's performance was something that made the first season of Daredevil one of the best seasons of a Netflix show we've ever seen. But without Fisk, or indeed any entity, puppeteering the operation, there was a general lack of villainous direction in the show.
As originally told by Miller and Mazzucchelli, "Born Again" began with the systematic destruction of Matt Murdock's life after Fisk discovered that he was Daredevil.
We're very excited how Marvel's Daredevil develops through the creative lens and guidance of our new showrunner, Erik Oleson. While Oleson comes over after serving as an Executive Producer on Amazon's The Man in the High Castle. But Netflix hasn't indicated when to expect the next seasons of any of the individual series, including the second seasons of "Jessica Jones" and "Luke Cage" (which are in the works).
Marvel's Daredevil season three arrives on Netflix in 2018. The Punisher is the next Marvel-Netflix series to hit the small screen, premiering on Netflix on November 17, 2017.
