"He (Modi) told her (Suu Kyi), "you have a very good global image, don't destroy it", the Bangladesh premier's press secretary Ihsanul Karim told PTI, quoting Swaraj as saying during her meeting with Hasina at her residence.

After co-chairing Joint Consultative Committee meeting with Bangladesh Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, on Sunday, said that they discussed the common challenges like terrorism which both the countries are facing nowadays and both the countries will fight with the scourge together.

The talks lasted for 45 minutes during which Swaraj said that being the next-door neighbour, India wanted to see a continued democratic process in Bangladesh.

“It is clear that normalcy will only be restored with the return of the displaced persons to Rakhine state.

In the area of power, India is now supplying 660MW to Bangladesh to take care of its shortfall, she said.

Zia-led Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), which had boycotted the 2014 general election, now holds no representation in the Bangladesh Parliament.
