South Africa vs Bangladesh, 3rd ODI at East London: Live cricket score and updates

Be afraid AB de Villiers looks back to his best

South Africa posted 369-6 batting first, its highest score against Bangladesh in ODIs, and rolled out the tourists for 169 with almost 10 overs left unbowled.

Du Plessis had raced to 91 off just 67 deliveries with 10 fours and a six when he sustained a lower back injury and was forced to leave the field.

At 283-2, however, South Africa had already scored more runs than Bangladesh had managed in each of the opening two games and their total was more than enough, with only Shakib Al Hasan (63) showing any fight as the tourists crumbled to another heavy defeat. There is no rush for du Plessis to return to action with South Africa's global calendar blank until Boxing Day.

South Africa's T20 squad is also without Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir, who have been rested but have several senior batsmen to bolster the ranks.

Dozens killed in two Afghan mosque attacks
There were also reports of at least 20 people being killed in a second mosque attack in central Afghanistan. Security forces cordoned off the area one hour after the explosion.

In Amla's place, Temba Bavuma made 48 in his first ODI in a year, Quinton de Kock hit 73 and Aiden Markram, on his ODI debut and in for Duminy, made 66. He has been replaced by JP Duminy as skipper in the T20s. However, Faf du Plessis and Aiden Markram put the responsibility on their shoulders and built the second big partnership that added in excess of 100 runs. Dane Paterson was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa with figures of three for 44.

South Africa stuttered in the middle overs with the wickets of AB de Villiers, Andile Phehlukwayo and Wiaan Mulder, another player on debut, falling in quick succession. Farhaan Behardien was 33 not out from 24 balls. Bangladesh bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Rubel Hossain tasted some late success and South Africa's innings came to an end with 369 for 6 on the board after 50 overs.

Bangladesh lost three wickets inside the first six overs and was bowled out for 169 in 40.4 overs.
