GETTY Jose Mourinho to learn from Arsenal's mistakes against Liverpool

Jose Mourinho

Manchester United snatched a precious point on Saturday after an away 0-0 draw against Liverpool in the English Premier League (EPL) football championship's eighth round.

"I play with one defender and nine strikers, don't worry about it, we play with one guy behind and then we go with a new system and we play with nine strikers, don't worry about it", said Mourinho.

"We came for three (points)".

Mourinho described the second half as a game of chess, adding: "But my opponent didn't open the door for me to win the game".

The injury-enforced absences of Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick did not help him at Anfield but sooner or later, he will have a full hand to choose from and if Mourinho and United are to beat City to the title, he will have to play it. Liverpool great Kenny Dalglish was present at Anfield for the inauguration of the stand that now bears his name and with United retreating from kick-off, he saw his team have plenty of the ball.

"It's quite hard when a top-class team like Man United has that defensive approach".

De Gea kept a clean sheet in the same fixture last season by virtue of spectacularly pawing away Philippe Coutinho's curling effort, but would not be drawn on whether he thought the stop from Matip was better.

"Even at the start of the season I don't think Liverpool fans expected them to win the title - I certainly didn't".

Rose McGowan back on Twitter
Indeed, Moore said that radio silence on Twitter could send a louder message than a large number of 140 character missives. Filmmaker Ava added her voice to the campaign, and highlighted the abuse women of color have reported to Twitter staff.

"Lukaku look distracted and was frustrated in the first half".

"You know this is quite amusing for me because I think when people speak about big atmospheres, it looks like we don't like, it looks like it's a problem for us to go to a certain place and to face a big atmosphere - this is what we want", Mourinho told reporters on Friday.

"I think Man United came here for the point and they got it".

But United boss Mourinho insisted that, despite the long-standing history of animosity between the bitter rivals, his players should enjoy the opportunity to play in front of a packed Anfield crowd. A point gained at Anfield.

United: De Gea; Valencia (c), Jones, Smalling, Darmian; Herrera, Matic, Young (Lindelof 90+3), Mkhitaryan (Lingard 63), Martial (Rashford 65); Lukaku.

Mourinho's side mustered just one shot on target at Anfield, with the Portuguese pointing to his list of midfield absentees as key to their inability to improve in attack. Every save is important, especially at Anfield. With Bailly missing along with a number of other notable absentees, United can be pleased with their afternoon's work.

It has been a different story for Liverpool, however, who have won just one of their last four matches to find themselves 13th in the table, seven points adrift of United.

Another tough trip awaits, this time as the Reds travel to Portugal to face Benfica at the Estádio da Luz.
