McGowan, who accused Weinstein of raping her, had her Twitter account suspended Thursday.

On Wednesday, Twitter reinstated McGowan's access and explained she'd been suspended for breaking its rules by "including a private phone number" in one of her tweets.

Her Twitter account was suspended for 12 hours yesterday for supposedly violating its community standards, which many interpreted as being linked to her fierce criticism of Ben Affleck and others.

In the wake of Rose McGowan's temporary suspension from Twitter, many women - including some celebrities - chose to join the #WomenBoycottTwitter protest on Friday in support of victims of sexual assault who have been silenced in the past.

Actress Kerry Washington shared her support of the #WomenBoycottTwitter movement, writing: "Starts now".

Even if the Twitter boycott is successful by some measure, it will also ultimately be a missed opportunity to stand together as women, our differences on display, bound in a unity we've yet to see so far.

Man Saves Missing Teen. Then, Another 'Act of Kindness'
Block was finally able to make a run for it after 29 days in captivity when her kidnappers "went to the store to get some food". He is said to have told her that he needed help with a family emergency. "He risked a lot of things and put himself in danger".

McGowan concluded her tweets by calling on Bezos, 53, to "stop funding rapists, alleged pedos and sexual harassers".

Filmmaker Ava added her voice to the campaign, and highlighted the abuse women of color have reported to Twitter staff. We will be clearer about these policies and decisions in the future.

Terry Crews, who just this week revealed his own experience with sexual harassment in the industry, was one of many men boycotting in solidarity, as well.

"Twitter is proud to empower and support the voices on our platform, especially those that speak truth to power", the rep continued.

The company's official account also tweeted: "We stand with the courageous women and men who use Twitter to share their stories, and will work hard every day to improve our processes to protect those voices".

Indeed, Moore said that radio silence on Twitter could send a louder message than a large number of 140 character missives.
