The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans lifted an injunction Thursday that blocked a six-game suspension for Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott, clearing the way for a six-game suspension.

Effectively, Elliott's appeal case, which upheld his suspension, was dismissed in court and the National Football League is now legally able to follow through on its initial six-game suspension. Stay with KLTV for updates.

Mazzant's ruling enabled Elliott to play in the Cowboys' first five games of this season. Dallas next plays October 22 in San Francisco.

The Cowboys are now on a bye week, and Elliott is scheduled to miss games against the 49ers, Redskins, Chiefs, Falcons, Eagles and Chargers.

With Elliott likely out, running back Alfred Morris will be inserted into the starting lineup with Darren McFadden spelling him.

Block was finally able to make a run for it after 29 days in captivity when her kidnappers "went to the store to get some food". He is said to have told her that he needed help with a family emergency. "He risked a lot of things and put himself in danger".

The good news for the Cowboys is that they have a bye this week, which will give Elliott and the NFLPA some extra time to appeal the Fifth Circuit's ruling.

The case will essentially start all over again, but will now move from Texas to NY, where Elliott has 10 days to refile his motion to fight the suspension.

Important to note, Elliott was never prosecuted for the incidents - and he maintains his innocence.
