Trump heads for Puerto Rico after a fumbling response to storm

US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump board Air Force One before departing for Puerto Rico Tuesday

The death toll from Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico has now reached 34, according to the spokesperson for Governor Ricardo Rossello, who said that the worst hurricane to hit the USA territory in more than 90 years caused around US$90 billion worth of damage.

Trump visited relief camps meeting the survivors and distributed supplies even throwing paper-towel rolls into the crowd.

Trump, on the other hand, told reporters on Air Force One on the way back to Washington that the visit was "terrific", adding, "We've only heard thank-you's from the people of Puerto Rico".

Estimates on the damage to Puerto Rico range between Dollars 30 billion to USD 95 billion. "He's sort of like miscommunication in chief", she told the network.

Earlier in the day, during a visit to the storm-ravaged island, President Donald Trump praised officials in Puerto Rico for the fact that only 16 people died. Roads are damaged, bridges have collapsed and an unknown number of Puerto Ricans are stranded in the hills and hollows of the mountain interior without access to water or food.

Moody's on Tuesday said the credit quality of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands - which is also financially stressed - face challenges according to a Reuters report, and estimated Puerto Rico's total storm costs, including lost output, at $45 billion to $95 billion. "But that's fine. We have saved a lot of lives - every death is a horror", he said. You know, they owe a lot of money to your friends on Wall Street. "What really is nasty is showing your back to the Puerto Rican people".

The governor of Puerto Rico says the official death toll from Hurricane Maria has been raised from from 16 to 34 peope. Only 10 percent of the island's cell phone towers are working and residents have waited hours in long lines for gas or groceries. And in fact, this bad and abominable view of him throwing paper towels and throwing provisions at people, it does not embody the spirit of the American nation. If you recall, Cruz took to national TV begging for more aid from the United States in wake of Hurricane Maria.

She said she hoped new channels of communication with the White House "put in motion what is needed" to save lives. "Everybody around this table, and everybody watching, can really be very proud of what's taken place in Puerto Rico".
