Under the US law, Trump has until October 15 to certify that Iran is complying with the nuclear deal.

Opposition to the deal was a major part of his campaign a year ago.

The high-level military meeting saw the president discussing Iran and North Korea with senior military officers.

Gesturing at the people around him, he asked the waiting press if they knew "what this represents".

"In a dinner w/ military officials @POTUS says" this is the calm before the storm".

A reporter asked, "What's the storm, Mr. President?"

Trump issued another stark warning to North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, reiterating that he has a range of military options at his disposal.

Trump faces an October 15 deadline for certifying that Iran is complying with the deal's terms.

'Issue of collusion' with Russian Federation still open, Senate intel chief says
Trump has repeatedly referred to the Russian campaign to interfere in the presidential election as a "hoax" invented by Democrats. Although the committee can't determine collusion at this point, they agree on Russia's attempts to influence the election.

He claimed the Iranian regime supports terrorism and exports violence and chaos across the Middle East.

However, the "storm" can also mean increasing tensions with North Korea.

The White House has not yet clarified what the president intended by his "calm before the storm" remark.

The Washington Post first reported his intention to decertify the deal, and several other news outlets cited unidentified USA officials as confirming The Washington Post report. CNN, whose sources include "two senior United States officials", reports that policy would be to work within the framework of the nuclear deal, which limits Iran's nuclear activities, while attempting to strengthen it for the US. "They have not lived up to the spirit of their agreement".

"You'll find out", he responded.

On North Korea, the president said "we will do what we must do" to prevent Pyongyang from threatening the usa and its allies.

"I believe at this point in time, absent indications to the contrary, it is something the President should consider staying with". If one of those next steps is to reinstitute sanctions on Iran, then the deal will be dead.
