Rafa Benitez drops hint as he's asked about a return to Liverpool

01 October 2017, 12:50 | Marta Robbins

Rafa Benitez has refused to to rule out a possible return to the Liverpool dug out one day.

Rafael Benitez's team saw a three-match winning run halted by Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend, and the Magpies will be determined to bounce back against Benitez's former employers.

Benitez, though, was said to be unhappy with their overall business, as he couldn't bring in his first choice targets, and openly aired his grievances about false promises made to him in relation to how much was available to him.

He left in 2010, however, following issues both on and off the pitch, and has since enjoyed spells at Inter Milan, Chelsea, Napoli, Real Madrid and Newcastle United.

A failure to turn their dominance into goals proved costly against Sevilla and then Spartak Moscow in the Champions League, albeit Liverpool did pick up a point on each occasion.

Asked if he had ever been close to returning to Anfield, Newcastle United's manager said: "It's quite hard, because I have been in Italy, or Madrid, or moving around".

U.S. defence expert warns Australia to strengthen defences against North Korea attack
Defense One said that if deterrence fails, those interceptors would be the last line of defense against a North Korean missile. Kim responded that Trump was "mentally deranged" and a "dotard" who would "pay dearly" for his threats.

I was at the age where I wanted to play more and more games, and I ended up moving to Swansea from Liverpool. The job is quite hard.

"It was a massive club, and in hindsight it was a big call to move from Liverpool, but I felt it was the right one at the time".

Benitez leads Newcastle for a second time against Liverpool, after the Magpies came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw at Anfield shortly after the 57-year-old took over 18 months ago. "I am getting older but for a manager I am still young so we'll see what happens".

"I know he's still really connected to the club", replied Klopp on Friday. I am happy here.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has come in for some criticism in recent weeks after a number of sloppy performances in defence. It is all in the future, but I don't want any "Rafa wants to go back". "But at the same time, we'll try our best and we will try to win".

"Set pieces are key for them, but set pieces in the wrong part of the field don't help you, so I can see a little bit of counterattacking in there", Gallacher said. It will be emotional, because I spent so many years there, and have so many good memories.
